International Business Exchange, New Delhi, India,

Done in: Winter 2019 / Customer: Association for Print Technologies / LeadingPRINT magazine / Task: Advertising Design

What the client needed

There is an expanding business opportunity for printing companies to have portions of their projects printed in the countries where the materials are going to be used (versus adding the massive difficulty of import/export rules and costs.)
This ad was an invitation to printers to explore the partnerships that are increasing across international borders.

My part of the project

The inspiration for this ad is based on my experience as a young sailor in my first visit to the orient. The sights, sounds and cultural expectations that sweep the first-time visitor up in a whirlwind of experience.
The core idea is illustrating the results of an actual choice to go.
I chose this stock photo because it illustrates the delicious whirlwind of personal experience and centers around the  experience of engaging one of the millions of cheap forms of transportation through the traffic of the orient. The decision to travel is always exhilarating (and maybe terrifying) but the core of the delight or fear is YOU. YOU actually doing it.

Issue information

From the Publisher, Thayer Long
“In this issue of LeadingPRINT, you’ll hear from innovators in print. Lawrence Chou, a young entrepreneur, built a successful printing business based on software engineering savvy and the intelligent use of data. Joe Gass shares how he has mastered Internet search engine optimization to attract exactly the kinds of customers he wants to his wide-format printing business. And Amy Miller tells us how she has incorporated new ways of doing things as CEO of a long-standing family print business.
“In this new year, make a resolution to try new things and to not be afraid of failure along the way. In 2019, Seth Godin’s assertion that “the cost of being wrong is less than the cost of doing nothing” could not ring more true. ”
